Lexington, Kentucky (March 30, 2023) - Global esports organization Gen.G and the College of Kentucky have announced details for the return of the popular NBA 2K tournament Hoops at Home, which will take place on Saturday, April 8, 2023.
The tournament will offer players the opportunity to participate in an online NBA 2K basketball experience on twitch.tv/universityofky, designed to connect and unite the community through esports.
"We are excited and honored to host our fourth Hoops at Home with Gen.G Esports," said Erik Jarvis, FIS Administrator Senior. "Having professionals like the Gen.G Tigers here to participate in this year's event enhances the whole experience for us. The excitement around basketball is always palpable this time of year, but even though we can not all be on the court, this event gives us a chance to compete and have fun together."
This year's tournament will take place both virtually and in person. To participate virtually in the tournament, participants will need a PlayStation 4 or 5 or an Xbox Series X/S and a copy of the game NBA 2K23. They must also have the ability to stream their game over a stable internet connection.
To enter the tournament in person, participants must come to The Cornerstone on UK's campus with their own controller and a cable to connect the controller to a PC or console.
Those wishing to participate must register at https://esports.uky.edu/hoops-at-home by April 5, 2023.
"It's exciting that our Tigers team will become a part of Big Blue Nation with our return to Lexington," said Jordan "Len" Ross, head coach of the Gen.G 2K team that plays in the UKFCU Esports Lounge. "We are looking forward to participating in the Hoops at Home show match against the tournament winners again this year and building closer relationships with the UK community."
Please note that completing the form NOT will automatically qualify you to participate in the tournament. The tournament organizers will contact you once the selection of participants has been made.
The 2K tournament will be conducted on a bracket basis and will start with a field of 64 players. Rounds 32, 16 and 8 of the tournament will be best-of-one with single elimination. The Round of 4 and the Championship will be played in best-of-three with single elimination.
Gen.G and the College of Kentucky continue to bring world-class esports activities to the community and are committed to building the next generation of esports leaders across the country.
